Welcome To Braking News
Welcome To Braking News, WMBC’s new way of communicating with club members and the county bike community at large. Twice-ish each month the Braking News Blog will include a feature article about Wallowa County Bicycling, followed by a few short takes on timely topics and upcoming events.
We’ll post each edition here on our website (wallowamountainsbicycleclub.com) , as well as on social media. In addition, we’ll send folks on our email list an alert indicating that there is a new edition of Braking News available. These short takes might cover things like a good route for riding in marginal April weather or the latest about the Joseph Branch Community Trail. The next Braking News will have feature article about Our Gravel Ronde-Vous that we are planning for July 20-21 to socialize and ride the roads and trails near Salt Creek Summit. Keep an eye out for Braking News updates here and on our Instagram and Facebook.
WMBC Spring Ramp Up: We have a lot of exciting things coming up at the club this riding season. Here’s a list of upcoming rides and events that we’re pumped for and hope you will be too:
5/7 - First Tuesday Night Group Road/Gravel Ride - Meet at Terminal Gravity in Enterprise at 6pm for the first weekly gravel/road ride. Come get your sweat on after work and enjoy a well-earned lawn beer at the pub afterwards.
5/9 - Spring Membership Meeting and Group Ride - Join us on May 9th at 6pm at the Turner Lane Trailhead for a group mountain bike on the East Moraine Community Forest (as well as a gravel option). This will kick off weekly Thursday night mountain bike rides on the moraine. Afterwards, at 7pm we will hold our Spring membership meeting to discuss the upcoming season, we encourage all active and prospective members to come out for both the ride and meeting or just one or the other. Come chat bikes and enjoy some M. Crow Pizza and TG Beer!
7/20-21 - Gravel Ronde-Vous - The Gravel Ronde-Vous is a gravel riding focused event (with some singletrack options as well) and campout at Lick Creek Campground near Salt Creek Summit. Come for the day, come and camp, just come ride bikes and celebrate summer. More information on this event will be available soon.
Welcome New WMBC Board Member, Ali Garrett Westrick! This month, WMBC is hugely lucky to welcome Ali Garrett Westrick to our board. Born and raised in the county, Ali is now the operator of Moonlight Graphics with her husband Scott. She and Scott have already been hugely helpful to WMBC as sponsors and we are grateful that she is taking on a larger role within the club. When not running Moonlight, Ali enjoys time with her cats, crafting, road rides, and playing in her band, Napster Disaster. Thanks Ali, we’re excited to have you aboard!
